2. What Data We Collect and Why

Account data

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. We need this to identify you and provide the service.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.

Quiz and blueprint data

The answers you provide during the onboarding quiz (current location, target country preferences, budget, timeline, lifestyle preferences, and passport/nationality) are processed to generate your personalised New Life Blueprint.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — necessary to provide the core service.

Payment data

If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment details are processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We only receive a confirmation of successful payment and your subscription status.

Technical / server log data

Our servers may temporarily log IP addresses and request metadata for security and operational purposes. Logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in maintaining secure and functional services.

3. Third-Party Processors

We use the following sub-processors to operate the service. Each has signed a Data Processing Agreement with us or operates under an approved cross-border transfer mechanism.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage (a technology similar to cookies) to:

• Keep you signed in — your authentication session token (strictly necessary)
• Remember your preferences — dark/light theme (strictly necessary)
• Cache your blueprint locally — for faster loading on return visits (strictly necessary)

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

If you accept optional cookies, we additionally load Google Fonts from Google's CDN and Google Analytics (GA4, ID: G-KNLGS63ST2) to measure aggregate usage. Analytics data is collected with IP anonymisation enabled and processed by Google LLC under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you reject optional cookies, neither Google Fonts nor Google Analytics will be loaded. You can change your cookie preference at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer.

5. Your Rights Under the GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

6. Data Retention

Your account data and blueprint are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data is erased within 30 days, unless statutory retention obligations (e.g. tax records under § 147 AO) require us to retain certain information longer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law or our services. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when changes were last made. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice.

The presentation of our services on this website does not constitute a legally binding offer, but an invitation to order. By clicking the subscription button or the "Start free" confirmation, you submit a binding order for the selected service tier.

Your contract is concluded when we confirm your order by email or when access to the service is activated — whichever occurs first.

Please ensure you provide a valid email address during signup, as all order confirmations and communications will be sent there.

4. Prices

The prices applicable at the time of your order are those displayed in the service. All prices are final prices and already include the statutory value-added tax applicable in Germany. For items that are on special offer or for which a voucher has been redeemed at the time of purchase, the reduced price shown in the final order confirmation applies.

Subscription prices are charged on a recurring basis (monthly or annual) until cancelled.

5. Payment

Payment is processed securely by Stripe (Stripe, Inc., 510 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA). We accept the following payment methods:

• Credit and debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
• Apple Pay
• Google Pay

For subscriptions, your payment method is charged automatically at the start of each billing period. We reserve the right to not offer certain payment methods on a per-order basis.

We only accept payments from accounts within the European Union (EU) and other countries explicitly supported by our payment processor.

6. Right of Withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the date of conclusion of the contract.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or an email) sent to:

You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction; you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

Premature expiry of the withdrawal right for digital services

The right of withdrawal expires prematurely if we have begun to perform the service with your express consent and you have confirmed that you are aware that you will lose your right of withdrawal once the contract has been fully performed by us. By clicking "Unlock my Blueprint" or activating your account, you give this express consent and confirm your awareness.

7. Voluntary 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee (Annual Plan)

In addition to your statutory withdrawal right described above, we offer a voluntary 30-day money-back guarantee for the Spark Annual plan. If you are not satisfied within the first 30 days of your annual subscription, contact us at yannick@expatspark.ai and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked.

This voluntary guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.

8. Cancellation of Subscriptions

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to paid features until that date. No partial refunds are issued for unused time in the current billing period, unless the statutory withdrawal right applies.

9. Nature of the Service — No Legal Advice

ExpatSpark AI generates personalised relocation blueprints using artificial intelligence. The content is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, tax, immigration, or financial advice. Visa requirements and regulations change frequently. Always verify specific requirements with a licensed immigration lawyer or the relevant authorities before making any decisions.

10. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and in accordance with the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable in the event of injury to life, body, or health.

Where slight negligence does not involve such injuries, we are only liable in the event of a breach of an essential contractual obligation — i.e. an obligation whose fulfilment is a prerequisite for the proper performance of the contract and on whose compliance the contractual partner may regularly rely. In such cases our liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical at the time of conclusion of the contract. This limitation of liability also applies in favour of our agents and vicarious agents.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the EU member state in which you are habitually resident remain unaffected.
